HUTT LIVING. an off grid airbnb experience.

Many of you may know, I have a wellness brand, and podcastCatch Me Outside My Comfort Zone” which inspires me to live out the message of braving the unfamiliar life we know, to spread our wings and ensure we reach lifes capacity, and ultimately create the one we have always dreamed of.

Back in June, I set a goal of treating my mind, body and soul to 30 days of self care, which looked like a fun bingo card to some, but to me, pushed me to the limit of my comfort zone.

I set myself tasks to do one thing everyday, I wouldn’t normally do, to provide myself with a new outlook on what self care can truly feel like, and how it seeps into the rest of our life.

One challenge on the “bingo card” was to “adventure a night away into the bush” when I added this, I had zero idea or confidence upon making this happen, the idea terrified me, but I knew the solitude would be magical.

Upon a catch up with Dan (Hutt Built) with a sangria in hand over the firepit at the opening night of East Gippsland’s Winter Fest, Dan invited me to check out their air bnb in Nowa Nowa (middle of the bush), so reluctantly (read: ecstatically)  I accepted and took myself on a little solo staycay out of town to the cosy Hutt Living Off Grid Tiny Home.

I have been a big fan of Dan’s building work and have followed his journey of

Hutt Built for the past few years, and admire the dedication and attention to detail he pours into each of his projects. Add to that his lovely partner Cora, who alongside her mum Wendy, are also local bespoke interior designers known as

Seaby House, who again, have created some of the most eclectic and dreamy spaces I have seen!

So pair the two together, and pour all those creative juices into one tiny home, I knew I was walking into a space full of magic.

Nestled on the banks of the Nowa Nowa Wetlands, with views of nothing but a windmill, and 360 degrees of NATURE, grounds the HUTT LIVING off grid tiny home.

Upon arriving at the site, at the car park greets you, a pair of gumboots, and a wheelbarrow, talk about concierge in the bush, this is what I like to see, especially as a solo traveler!

Squelching through the puddles into a grass led path reveals the home in its natural landscape.

A fire pit awaiting to be lit, wood perfectly stacked, and an interior full of softness and warmth, it instantly felt like home.

For the middle of winter I was blessed with a calm, clear night to sit outside by the cosy fire, with a wine in hand, a simple cheese platter and cook dinner over the fire whilst admiring the stars, full moon, and the eerie squeaks of nature.

It brought me ease to know I was welcomed, and safely surrounded by family of Dan’s on the neighboring properties, as well as only being a 19 minute drive from my beach house in Lakes Entrance.

For an off grid experience, I had low expectations, however I was quickly pleasantly surprised by the amazing heating, cooling and hot water facilities in the tiny home.

As well as the most comfortable bed and softest sheets, after sipping a MOOD tea, I slept like I was on a cloud.

The interior dominance of plywood walls, floors and built in furniture, contributes to evolving layers of nature, the simple flow from exterior to inside the space, with a moody masculine soft furnishings approach to deepen the sense of an escape to the Nowa Nowa wetlands.

Dan + Cora have perfectly painted a place to visit when in East Gippsland, if you are looking for a modern but minimalist

experience, and enjoy the sounds and views of bushland, with the comfort of only being a short drive to nearby coastal townships.

What a perfect winter stay, and one I am already looking forward to venturing back to, again soon.
